european space : from fragmentation to consolidation ?

Facing world-class American and Chinese competitors, Europe’s space sector is increasingly fragmented, with (perhaps too?) many satellite constellation projects, small launch vehicles, and even startups. This proliferation often lacks overall coherence and, above all, the scale required to compete on equal terms in a rapidly growing market. The consolidation of space activities by Airbus, Thales, and Leonardo under the Bromo initiative, the launch of the IRIS² constellation, and the merging of startups could reverse this trend. The upcoming edition of the Toulouse Space Forum, organised by La Tribune on 8 September at the Cité de l’espace, will once again examine these crucial issues. Following a focus on African space and Italian space in the past two editions, this year the Toulouse Space Forum will shine a spotlight on a rising European space power that is challenging the established order.
